BCPOU Major Medical Plan

The Board of Directors of the Bahamas Communications & Public Officers Union is extremely pleased to announce the launch of the Comprehensive Manage HealthCare Program (CMHP). This new and improved membership benefit is being launched in partnership with Physicians Alliance and is designed to allow all participants and their dependents to have direct access to a network of local doctors, pharmacies and diagnostics centers at discounted rates. In addition to the exclusive network of professional health care providers others benefits of this new partnership will allow members access to:

 

Ø The use of the Private Ward of the Princess Margaret Hospital as the primary inpatient facility;

Ø A twenty-four (24) hour hotline for members to receive advice and assistance in emergencies care;

Ø Direct access to physicians on every island in the Bahamas;

Ø Air Ambulance for all members and participants wherever they are located in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas;

Ø Third party administration of claims both locally and internationally;

Ø A system whereby members will only have to provide a 20% co-pay to doctors offices, labs and pharmacies within the network;

Ø An enhanced  computerized claims payments systems that will allow real-time data and information to doctors, hospital  and labs;

 

The partnership between the BCPOU and Physicians Alliance is a model for other trade unions and worker organization to follow became effective April 6, 2009.

The BCPOU major Medical Plan is extremely pleased to have established this relationship with Physicians Alliance and we believe that members of the medical Plan, their dependents and the healthcare professionals associated with Physicians Alliance will all benefit positively and many Bahamian families will be able to boast of having access to affordable and professional healthcare services. 

 

We are confident that this new partnership with workers and doctors will significantly reduce the cost of healthcare to our members while at the same time ensure that all of the stakeholders will see better days ahead.
